Can Chiropractic Help?
As chiropractors in Ogden Utah we see patients get relief from a wide variety of pain every day. Research on chiropractic over the last few decades has shown that chiropractic can help with a large variety of conditions.
A 1995 study in BMJ randomly divided 741 patients with low back pain into 2 groups. The first group went to the hospital and the second group went to chiropractors. The normal treatment for low back pain at hospitals is muscle relaxants and pain medicine. The normal treatment at a chiropractor is spinal manipulation with other therapeutic treatments. They followed up on these 2 groups over the next three years after the treatment and found more benefit and long term satisfaction in the chiropractic group.
A 2012 study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine (a medical doctor journal) compared spinal manipulation to medication for neck pain. Their conclusion was “For patients with acute and subacute neck pain, spinal manipulative therapy was more effective than medication in both the short and long term.”
A retrospective review showed that women who regularly see their chiropractors during pregnancy have 31% shorter labor times. The same study showed that 84% of women found relief from back pain with chiropractic care.
The research continues to support what our patients already know: chiropractic can help. Chiropractic care is also one of the most cost effective forms of health care available today.
