Pregnancy
It has been reported that approximately 50% of pregnant women experience back pain, but only 21% seek medical care. Changes in posture and in your center of gravity during pregnancy may cause spinal dysfunction, resulting in back pain. Pregnancy related weight gain greatly increases the stress placed on the lower back. Hormone changes may cause hypermobility and spinal instability, especially during the third trimester.
A retrospective review showed that women who regularly see their chiropractors during pregnancy have 31% shorter labor times. The same study showed that 84% of women found relief from back pain with chiropractic care. Chiropractic care during pregnancy is very safe.
